1. Respect for the Antarctic Environment

TAC understands and respects the uniqueness and sensitivity of the Antarctic wilderness.

In 1991, the Antarctic Treaty Consultative Parties adopted the Protocol on Environmental Protection to the Antarctic Treaty, which designates the Antarctic as a natural reserve. The Environmental Protocol applies to tourism and non-governmental activities, as well as governmental activities in the Antarctic Treaty Area. It is intended to ensure that these activities do not have adverse impacts on the Antarctic environment, or on its scientific and aesthetic values. We operate in strict accordance to the environmental guidelines of the Antarctic Treaty System:

- Keep Antarctica pristine

- Protect Antarctic wildlife

- Respect protected areas.

Respect for the environment is extremely important for us and our clients. Whenever they go they endeavor to leave nothing behind but their foot prints and take nothing with them but their memories, photos and videos. One of our major aims is to raise our clients’ the awareness of the uniqueness of the Antarctic environment and the necessity to protect it. We also want to encourage cooperation between private-sector travel and the international scientific community in the Antarctic.

IIATOSince June 2009 TAC has been an associated member (B1) of the International Association of Antarctic Tour Operators, an organization founded in 1991 in response to the concern at the conduct and organization of nongovernmental activities in Antarctica and the need to regulate them. Since its foundation the number of members and goals increased constantly which makes IAATO a good example of a well working self-regulatory system and shows the interest of travel companies in the protection of the Antarctic continent.

2. Safety Matters

Safety is of paramount importance for our Company

Safety is of paramount importance for our company.

TAC is managed by real Antarctic and Arctic explorers and each of our field guides has led numerous expeditions in the polar regions and knows the environment from their own experience. Our staff has the knowledge, experience and, above all, the understanding of safety that is required when venturing into such an awesome but yet challenging environment. Once in Antarctica , we have well-established SAR and medical procedures to ensure your safety. In the unlikely event of an emergency, all required logistics are immediately diverted to assist an extraction to a medical facility.

Our logistics is operated by ALCI, a company that has been working in Antarctica for the last 7 years with an infallible record. ALCI is one of the world leaders in Antarctic logistics and adhere to the highest aeronautical safety standards.

We know the position of our aircraft anytime using the newly introduced "sky router" system and we have daily communication with all our expeditions via radio or satellite telephone.

Our weather forecast is provided by the experts, collecting satellite data as well as current weather reports from Antarctic bases and automatic stations. The section of flight between Cape Town and Novo runway is covered by Weather Traffic Control Center in Johannesburg , South Africa.
