Private Expeditions

TAC provides logistical support services in the Antarctic for private teams.

Private expeditions are organized upon request for a person or group with an itinerary developed together and customized to meet individual scheduling needs, special interests, degree of luxury and the utmost in personalized attention.

Expedition Planning

Leading an expedition can be the easy part if the planning has been done properly. Although flexibility is an essential ingredient in all expeditions, it does not negate the importance of planning all aspects of the expedition. TAC has a very thorough and deliberate expedition planning process. We try to minimize costs through finding and selecting the most economical options for logistical support.

• We take responsibility for all private expedition requirements including remote field insertion & extraction, re-supply options, positioning of supplementary fuel and provision/equipment caches, scenario planning, assessment of fuel budgets, flight operational requirements and time-lines, and overall co-ordination of activities;
• We prepare a tailored contingency (SAR) response plans appropriate to the nature and intended routing of each private expedition, taking into consideration ALCI's ability to adequately respond to any contingency or emergency that may arise within reasonable time frames;
• Where necessary, and upon mutual consent, TAC provides field specialists to accompany or provide technical support to private expeditions in the field;
• Together with ALCI, TAC will provide a dedicated private expedition communication officer to manage communications between the expedition and the ALCI airbase (near the Russian Antarctic Base – Novolazarevskaya, Queen Maud Land) in Antarctica ;
• Together with ALCI, we, upon request, take care of private expedition needs in Cape Town ranging from immigration, customs clearance, hotel reservations, airport transportation and additional tours that the clients may request;
• We look after permitting or other government requirements.

In short, we ensure that every aspect of the expedition has been well thought out so nothing is overlooked. Smooth operations are influenced almost entirely by the quality and thoroughness of the planning and we pride ourselves on having expedition planning down to a science.
