Gulfstream II b at the Novo Airbase |
By Gulfstream to Antarctica
On Sunday evening, December 09, 2007 at 22.30 a Gulfstream II b with 10 passengers and 4 crew members started from Cape Town International Airport to Antarctica. After 5 hours flight the plane landed safely on the Novo Runway in Dronning Maud Land. It was the first landing of a Gulfstream on this blue ice runway covered by a thin layer of compressed snow. After refuelling and a short break in Antarctica the plane returned to Cape Town on Monday at noon.
Eight clients arrived by this plane will stay for 10 days in the summer "Wilderness Camp" of the White Desert Company and enjoy the stunning environment of Antarctica. The camp offers all comforts ranging from highclass food to sanitary facilities and heating possibilities. Four members of the White Desert stuff including a chef will arrange for a safe and comfortable adventure in Antarctica.
